Fee Stracke lives, plays, composes, and teaches in Berlin. For Instrumental Chairs, she worked with her long-time companion Berit Jung on bass and Hampus Melin on drums, both of whom she had met during her studies in Berlin and Copenhagen. Daniel Meyer on guitar is a colleague from the improv-theater scene. Common elements in their biographies and styles of play and differences created harmony and tension, when the four took to rehearse and record Fee Strackes compositions. The intensity of their collaboration and their friendship are manifest in the album Instrumental Chairs and let the band play freely and energetically in live performances.
