„Light a fire in seven places and it will smoke in eight places"
(Chinese saying)
With "FIRE" the MARTIN STREULE JAZZ ORCHESTRA will carry on the cycle of concerts "THE FOUR ELEMENTS" started four years ago. After the large symphonic sound paintings of WATER (2005, Unit Records) and the groove-oriented sound sculptures of EARTH (2007, Unit Records) FIRE is dominated by licking melodies and wide stretched sound-textures: warming as well as destructive like flames.
The present programm reflects the natural course of a fire. Starting with a tiny flame (Coming Into Life) it grows bigger (Increasing) and reaches its climax and by gradually losing intensity (Decreasing) it finally goes out (Going Down). |
