The inner face, the soul of the artist, which expresses through the music – surprising fairly often even for the artist
UNIT Records goes South: Ivano Torre’s CD "Musique d’Urt" is the first release of a musician from the Southern part of Switzerland. Torre, son of Italian immigrants, inventive drummer and instant composer, presents an Italian-Swiss quintet. It is his fourth work but the first one with a band including instruments of one voice only: three saxophones and a bass. The material reflects different chapters of Torre’s continuos work but was arranged new for this record. The variety this way turns into a stringent form. How improvised many songs may sound, they always base on a structural and harmonic skeleton. The title relates to Torre’s secret icon: A white mask created by Ivano and named Urt – the inner face, the soul of the artist, which expresses through the music – surprising fairly often even for the artist. |
