The duo "planet ZIZA" consisting of David Soyza (vibraphone, Dornbirn A) and Elias Menzi(hammered dulcimer, Teufen, CH) was created in the summer of 2020. During the pandemic the collaboration intensified and they explored the possibilities of this very special instrument constellation.
Whether you want to call it Realtime Composition or Free Improvised Music, this ensemble captures the moment. REALITY is the focus. It can be beautiful and upsetting, joyful and sad. The two musicians share their joy of
exploration and with that create their own compositions as well as very expressive improvisations. "planet ZIZA" stands for: Two people coming together and communicating. This makes every concert unique.

Elias Menzi and David Soyza meet unexpectedly and are fascinated by the sound of their two instruments. Their common interest in free improvised music leads them to found "planet ZIZA" and explore the unheard sound of this duo.
For their debut album the musicians decided to record three live concerts. Diverse and expressive free improvisations are the core of this work. In addition, the first joint original compositions of "planet ZIZA" can be heard.
The sensitive interplay of the two musicians and the great joy of exploring unknown terrain opens a door to previously unheard worlds of sound for the listener.
